Why Convert Your Loft?

A loft conversion can provide you with more benefits not just now but also in the future if you decide to sell your home. Loft conversions are considered to add up to 20% to the value of your home, making them an excellent investment.

Our Building Process Stages

The eight stages of our Loft Conversion Building Process are as follows: Stage 1: Scaffolding is installed to get access to the loft. Stage 2: Install structural beams in party walls to construct wood floor support and a front roof elevation with a dwarf wall. Stage 3: Construct the dormer and install the Velux windows. Stage 4: Complete roof tiling on the new dormer and the front roof elevation. Build interior partitions, doorways, and ceilings in Stage 5. Install double-glazed windows, as well as floor and wall insulation, in Stage 6. Stage 7: Construct a new staircase connecting the first and second floors. Stage 8: Plasterboard the entire loft, and finish with a plaster skim. Our team is always available to go over any area of the project in further depth.

Different Types of Loft Conversions

To choose the best Loft conversion for your home, evaluate the shape, height, and line of your current roof. In addition, your budget and planning approval rights must be considered.

Roof Light/Velux Conversions, Dormer Conversions, Hip-to-gable Conversions, Mansard Conversions, and L-shaped Conversions are the five primary varieties of Loft Conversions. Internal loft conversions are typically the least expensive and need the least amount of building intervention.

Dormer Conversions are the most prevalent variety due to the additional room they provide. Mansards have the most versatility but are the most difficult and expensive to build.

IS YOUR LOFT IN BOURNE END SUITABLE FOR CONVERSION?

Converting an existing loft into extra living space is a far less expensive option for homeowners in need of more room than moving to a new house. This is especially true in places of the country such as London, where real estate is extremely expensive, making a loft conversion a tempting option.

WHAT ARE THE FACTORS TO CONSIDER BEFORE HAVING A LOFT CONVERSION IN BOURNE END?

Head Height

The minimum headroom required by law may differ based on the type of building you live in (and, most likely, the era it was built). In general, the minimum dimension for a loft conversion is 2.2m from floor to ceiling at its tallest point. If your loft does not meet this condition, it is unlikely that you will be permitted to increase the pitch of your roof, as towns seldom provide such authorization. If the rooms underneath have adequate space to allow the adjustment, one alternative would be to lower the current ceiling heights.

Obstacles

Many homes, particularly older ones, have obstacles in their loft area, such as water pipes and chimney stacks. While neither is a complete hindrance to a loft conversion, they may need the removal or restructuring of the loft's layout, which often results in higher expenditures. Water pipes and chimney stacks are not insurmountable obstacles in loft conversions, but the expenses and delays imposed by both should be factored into your planning to ensure you stay on time and under budget.
